Ephesus , situated  near the town  of Selçuk, is Turkey 's most important ancient city and one of the best preserved and restored in the whole Classical World.
Dating back  to 3000 years, one  can still  stroll for  hours along ıts streets, temples, tis theatre, the famous Library of Celcus, the  houses and  statues.
Ephesus was first setled by the Hittite  and Anatolian tribes.The ancient city of Ephesus whose ruins are visible today  though was  established by Lysimachos, one  of the  generals  of Alexander the Great in 300 B.C.
The Temple of Artemis, measuring  125 by  60 meters was built during the first part of the Archaic Period and is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
