Süleymaniye Mosque, is the largest and grandest of Istanbul's imperial mosques. It dates from the 16th century heyday of the Ottoman Empire, and was designed by famous architect Sinan.
The dome of the mosque, which is situated on four elephant feet, is 53 metres high and it has a diameter of 26,5 meters.It has four minarets.
Rüstem Pasha Mosque, another masterpiece by Sinan that has the most exquisite and extensive Iznik tile decoration of any mosque in Istanbul.
The big dome in the middle is supported by four demi domes.The arches of the big dome, which has 24 windows, are supported by eight octagonal elephant feet. The altar and the pulpit are made of marble. The main hall has six pillars and five domes.
