Cappadocia  is Persian for the '' the land of the beautiful horses'' .It is an enchanting open air museum and  an unparaleled example of the common cultural and natural heritage of humanity.
Situated within the region of Nevsehir ,Urgup and Avanos, the area is  bounded by Erciyes ( 3916 m high) in the east and  by HasandaÄŸ (3253 m high) in the south  both once active volcanic mountains.
At the time that Anatolia was completing  its  geographical evolution,  these volcanic eruptions were so strong that the lava in some places was up to 100 m thick.
Over millions of years volcanoes , wind , rain and  ice sculpted what  we know as the decor of Cappadocia.
Nature was the first to arrange the decor,  but the Anatolian man carved the rocks and  built numerous churches and underground cities during  the early times of Christianity.
